Error Search Scraper

Hi team,

I was testing the Search Scraper this morning before updating to the latest version of ScrapeGraphAI, and everything was working fine. After updating, the Search Scraper stopped working.

What happens now is that the Search Scraper does not return any results, even with very simple queries like "NVIDIA news".

I’m not sure what changed, but the other modules (for example, the Scraper module) are still working correctly. The issue seems to be only with the Search Scraper.

Just wanted to report it in case it’s related to the latest update.

We tracked this down. The duckduckgo-search package (used by the default Search Scraper backend) was renamed upstream to ddgs, and recent langchain-community releases now import from ddgs import DDGS internally. Because the library still depended on the old package name, instantiating the DuckDuckGo search tool raised an ImportError under the hood — so the search step returned no URLs and SearchGraph produced no answer. Other modules (like the regular Scraper) were unaffected because they don't use that search backend, which matches exactly what you observed.

Fix is up in #1083: we now call ddgs directly and swapped the dependency to ddgs>=9.0.0. After it lands you can update and the Search Scraper will work again.

In the meantime, you can unblock yourself right away with:

pip install -U ddgs

Verified locally that SearchGraph("NVIDIA news", ...) once again returns results. Will update here when the fix is released. 🚀
