By searching the history, I've found that this validation was added last month 08bae06#diff-5fd331c78359cb385a2bc1c2f5613344e65d214b2096afd6a3fc2501485f10ffR1059
Maybe this update was pushed to steamcmd just today?
I don't have more information to help debugging it, but dozens of our players are being kicked out from our game server due this error.
