Running on SSMS 21

Sadly this wonderful extension appears to have been abandoned. I have been able to install successfully it on recent versions, but have run into a brick wall.

Microsoft have now released SSMS version 21, which is based on VS Studio, and it no long works with SSMS Executor.

Has anybody found a solution to this?

@manngo 21 to 22 is a major SSMS version number increment, so it will take a new build and release of the extension. I will work on this.

I have an installer which includes an interim version for SSMS 22 which I got going through trial and error. It works for me and will do until the official fix is ready.

@manngo I installed this for SSMS 22 and it said successful. But I'm not seeing it in my extensions and the ctrl+shift+e shortcut isn't working after a restart of SSMS. Is there any other instruction on how to activate the executor after install?

I have an updated comment below, so this response is probably obsolete.

I have a few questions:

• Does SSMSExecutor appear in the Tools menu?

• Is SSMS22 installed in the standard location?

  • If not, can you find the Extensions directory? It is possible to work around that.

  • If so, what do you see in your C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio 22\Release\Common7\IDE\Extensions directory? If you see the SSMSExecutor directory, what’s inside that?

• If you restart the installer, (a) is SSMS 22 in bold, and (b) is there a question mark after that?

Hello, I have published a new release with SSMS 22 support

Users can use the VSIX installer, which supports both SSMS versions 21 and 22.
Alternatively, you can use the traditional zip file method or @manngo's installer.

As you see above, the proper new version of SSMSExecutor has been released, complete with an installer.

I have also updated my own installer and fixed a bug which stopped it from working properly.

You can go either way.
