The kpt code diverged when Porch was split from kpt, and much kpt code was duplicated in Porch. During this period, the kpt code in kptdev and tje cloned kpt code iin Porch evolved on separate tracks. Recently, we are working to bring the Porch improvements into the kpt codebase and merge those improvements with the improvements made in parallel in kpt. This issue describes that work.
In the merge work in #4356, a number of areas for improvement have been noticed. This EPIC gathers those improvements into a single issue, and the sub-issues of this issue describe each of the improvement areas.
