1.16 update to T-Deck Plus fails after flashing

Have tried four times to flash 1.16 on my T-Deck Plus Bluetooth companion (T-Deck Bluetooth community firmware, without erase) and I can't get past "Loading ..." after flashing, but going back to 1.15 is fine.

Updated two Heltec v3 repeaters to 1.16 fine. All flashed from the same Linux box via USB.

Is it just that 1.16 doesn't like the old settings? Should users flash and erase? Or am I doing something foolish?

If there isn't an FAQ about failed flashing, perhaps you might add one.

Updating my ThinkNode M5 companion from 1.15 community to 1.16 using the same Linux box and USB also worked fine.
