• Where did your edit binary come from?
• Please tell us the output of
  • sha256sum "$(which edit)"
  • sudo cat /proc/self/limits
• And finally, please run sudo gdb edit to find the crash location.
  If you haven't used gdb before:
  • sudo gdb edit
  • Type run
  • If it didn't crash:
    • Press Ctrl+Q
    • Type run
    • Repeat
  • Otherwise type these two and give us the combined output:

It came from the file "edit-2.0.0-x86_64-linux-gnu.tar.gz". I extracted it and copied it to the "/usr/local/bin" folder manually.
