KB5085516 fails to install with error 0x80070032

Describe the bug: see title

What I did/tried:

1. made sure to be fully updated before running the script
2. ran the script with no UI + all options
3. everything went fine
4. 2026-03 Update (KB5085516) (26200.8039) shows up weeks later
5. update fails to install with error 0x80070032
6. ran the update fixer script (Windows Update Repair Option #180)
7. everything went fine
8. update still fails after reboot
9. ran the script in revert mode (backup mode wasn't available when I first ran the script)
10. some steps fail because of missing files (probably from backup mode)
11. update still fails after reboot

EDIT:

I tried downloading and installing the update manually, and the result is:

If this was to be true, the build no. should be 26200.8039, and not 26200.8037, but winver still shows the wrong build no.

did you try running the repair script again... other than a corrupted component store which the script repairs theres nothing else remove windows ai breaks in terms of updates

FIXED!!!

The issue was CBS having uncommitted changes of the new version while also telling Windows they were installed, ending up in version mismatches.

What I did, since I was on the optional updates channel and couldn't downgrade to a stable version, was:

1. download the UUP dump tools for 26200.8039 with "Download and convert to ISO" enabled
2. mount the ISO once the process is completed
3. run setup.exe and "install" Windows with "Keep my files and programs" enabled
4. go to Windows update and check for updates after the process is done
