Workflow does not contain permissions Medium

Actions job or workflow does not limit the permissions of the GITHUB_TOKEN. Consider setting an explicit permissions block, using the following as a minimal starting point: {contents: read}

Copilot Autofix

AI 9 days ago

In general, fix this by explicitly specifying a minimal permissions block either at the workflow root (applies to all jobs) or on the specific job. For this workflow, the job only checks out code and runs local Node/Angular commands, so it only needs read access to repository contents. Adding permissions: contents: read at the top level is the clearest way to document and constrain access without changing behavior.

The single best fix without changing functionality is: in .github/workflows/linting.yml, add a root-level permissions block after the name: Lint line. This block should declare contents: read, which is sufficient for actions/checkout and does not grant write rights. No imports or extra definitions are required: it is purely a YAML configuration change.

Concretely:

  • Edit .github/workflows/linting.yml.

  • After line 1 (name: Lint), insert:

    permissions:
      contents: read
  • Leave the rest of the workflow unchanged.

Actions job or workflow does not limit the permissions of the GITHUB_TOKEN. Consider setting an explicit permissions block, using the following as a minimal starting point: {contents: read}

Copilot Autofix

AI 9 days ago

In general, fix this by adding a permissions: block specifying the least privileges required for the job or workflow. For this workflow, the job checks out the code and then calls Sentry using a separate auth token, so GITHUB_TOKEN only needs read access to repository contents. We can therefore safely set contents: read. Because there is a single job, the simplest, least intrusive change is to add a permissions: block under that job (jobs.sentry-release) without altering functionality.

Concretely, in .github/workflows/sentry.yml, under jobs: sentry-release: and at the same indentation level as runs-on:, insert:

permissions:
  contents: read

No imports or additional methods are needed; this is purely a YAML configuration change for GitHub Actions.

Log injection Medium

Log entry depends on a
user-provided value
.

Copilot Autofix

AI 9 days ago

In general, to fix this kind of issue, any user-controlled data included in log messages should be sanitized to remove or neutralize characters that can break log structure (such as \n and \r) or otherwise cause injection. For plain text logs, removing line breaks from the untrusted value before logging is usually sufficient; optionally, you can also clearly delimit or encode the user input so that it cannot be confused with other log fields.

For this specific code, the simplest fix that preserves existing behavior is to create a sanitized version of event.body just for logging, by replacing any \r or \n characters with an empty string (or another safe replacement), and logging that sanitized string instead of the raw body. Importantly, this should only affect the logged value, not the actual request parsing: the JSON.parse(event.body) should continue to operate on the original event.body so functionality is unchanged. Concretely, in hub-search-proxy/handler.js, around line 53, we should introduce a safeBodyForLog variable derived from event.body.replace(/\r|\n/g, '') (but only if event.body is a string), then use safeBodyForLog in the console.log message.

No new external libraries are needed; we can use built-in string methods and a simple type check.
