Profile

I am a Research Assistant and PhD Candidate in City and Regional Planning at Dokuz Eylül University, working across computational urban science, GIScience, remote sensing, and operational urban resilience.

My work is concerned with a practical question: how can spatial data, algorithms, and planning intelligence make cities more resilient, equitable, and operationally legible?

I develop geospatial workflows and planning tools for problems such as disaster accessibility, road-network vulnerability, urban heat exposure, green-space equity, flood mapping, land-use inventory, and automated plan production in QGIS.

Research posture: from spatial evidence to operational planning tools.

Research Identity

Urban Resilience & Disaster Risk

GIS-based evacuation accessibility, road-network vulnerability, post-disaster routing, emergency planning, and spatial decision support for critical urban areas.

Climate-Sensitive Urban Analytics

Urban heat vulnerability, forest change monitoring, landscape structure, microclimate regulation, and remote-sensing-based climate diagnostics.

Spatial Equity & Green Infrastructure

Park accessibility, green-space justice, vulnerable populations, service-area modelling, and distributional questions in urban planning.

Planning Automation & QGIS Tools

QGIS plugins, CAD-like planning utilities, parametric settlement generation, automated zoning-plan workflows, and reproducible geospatial systems.

Current Research Direction

My doctoral research focuses on the multi-objective optimization of urban solid waste infrastructure, using evolutionary algorithms and network-routing models to evaluate trade-offs among:

  • cost efficiency,
  • spatial equity,
  • environmental sustainability,
  • operational performance,
  • and infrastructure resilience.

In parallel, I work on high-stakes urban resilience and planning projects, including GIS-based methods for earthquake-related road-network vulnerability and accessibility.

Working Philosophy

Cities are not only physical forms. They are operational systems made of networks, thresholds, flows, exposures, failures, and decisions.

My work aims to make these systems measurable and actionable, especially where climate stress, disaster risk, infrastructure capacity, and spatial equity overlap.
