Very nice topic. Maybe more background on how waste management works? What happens to our trash? Could present the "journey" of what happens to residential and commercial waste in PA.
Can we keep putting waste in waste yards? Or is space limited? How much does space play a role? How much of waste gets dumped into oceans, rivers, lakes?
Nice data screenshots.
I like you mentioned about exporting trash. You could mention that in the intro too.
In addition to imports, it would be nice to see where PA is exporting out trash.
Nice viz!
Very interesting to see NJ chooses to export to PA the most. Is it because PA offers cheapest price to handle? Or NJ finds it convenient to transport trash due to proximity?
Within state, what determines how much a county gets trash?
More discussion about implications and ethical implications please!

Progress presentation comments:

  • Well chosen topic.
  • Less text but more maps, and graphs. Your setting is perfect for making maps. On the map you can show production locations, several gas station locations with prices..
  • Try combing your gas price data with political instability.
  • Maybe try expanding your data to include all countries in the world.
  • Including natural gas price could be interesting too.
  • I like your time series graphs. Make more of those, try to tie it to world events more. You can come up with creative viz with this.
