I really like this project idea. It seems very well-thought out and detailed. You have a model you want to use and what exploratory analysis you want to observe. It seems like you are very prepared to dive into this project. I would try to remember that country names have changed throughout history (Russia and USSR , for example) so keep that in mind. One thing that you may face is that you do not have results are very in depth. If possible, I would try to perform some type topic modeling. This will be able to receive sentiment analysis on what the newspaper is portraying rather than just who. Additionally, this could also open doors to see what topics are most shown in the front pages (trade, immigration, economy, etc.). It would also be interesting to see the NYT pages compared to some other popular newspapers such as the Washington Post. Just some things to think about going into this project. Other than that, I think you are set up pretty well to get started. I would recommend to explore more opportunities with this data if you have time or come up with something. |
