The ie7 bug about input element cloning doesn't appear to be a bug. It works good in my test with older code, doesn't work after the fix, so undo.
When current day is 29|30|31 the unformat function could fail if the month to display has a number of days minor than the current day

Upgrade to mootools 1.3.
The wrong year selection of a day of the previous/next year in months January an December fixed.
Z-index of calendar container is set as the highest in the document.
